This may be the ugliest building on earth, London City Hall. The former mayor of London called it “the Glass Testicle.” I’d say it looks more like a tumor.
For some reason, left-leaning dottles think it’s beautiful. Worth all of 43 zillion pounds. And very hard to heat, very hard to cool.
Someday archaeologists are going to study this monstrosity and wonder if we’d lost our minds.
That is terrible. Of course, every single person claiming to be working towards energy efficiency must always be telling the truth, and couldn’t possibly have any ulterior motive, such as profit, in promoting their design. Of course not. 🙂
I was worked in a LEEDS Gold building, which was supposed to be highly energy efficient. One way they did this was to have motion sensors to turn on lights. If you walked down a hallway, which had plenty of natural light, the overhead lights would turn on, and stay on for 20 minutes. Basically, these unneeded lights were on all the time. The lights in my office would go out, if I was at my desk for any length of time, requiring me to walk towards the light switch, in order for them to restore the lighting. Switching fluorescent light on and off in relatively short intervals is much less efficient than leaving them on. So much for energy efficiency, but the vendors and contractors got their money, and that’s what really counts.
Why do we keep expecting these people to do something worth doing?
The futility of their efforts is pathetically predictable.
It looks like they are trying to compete with the Leaning Tower of Pisa. To me it looks like a fictional pre-historic monster that eats whatever comes its way. Aren’t City Halls supposed to be place of pride in the community? Somebody got hoodwinked on this one.
