Boarded up and out of use
[Thanks to Susan for the news tip.]
Public schools are shutting down all over the country. In 2021-22, 755 schools closed. Edsource.org has the numbers here (https://edsource.org/2023/as-enrollments-decline-state-leaders-should-help-districts-mitigate-school-closure-pressures/688265), provided by the National Center for Education Statistics, 2023.
Why are these schools being closed? It is usually attributed to “declining enrollment,” but that doesn’t answer the question of why there is “a shrinking student population.”
We’re in favor of Christian homeschooling, big-time: public education in America today, as practiced by teachers’ unions and left-wing “educators,” is a moral disaster–unless, of course, you think their promotion of “transgender” is a good thing. To say nothing of their racial shenanigans.
Families have been fleeing Blue states like California, chased out by rising taxes and crazy classroom policies–could that have something to do with it? Just askin’.
Our public education system is a mess, and more and more people know it. Get your kids out of the clutches of those teachers’ unions.
Ronald Regan had the opportunity to get rid of the Department of Education that Jimmy Carter set up but didn’t do it. Trump had the same opportunity in his first term but didn’t do it. His secretary of Education Betsy Devos now say it needs to be closed down. Trump still dances around of the issue but now that Ramyswamy is on his side maybe Trump will actually do it this time.
He has an awfully long bucket list, though…
