Bring Mommy and Daddy to Your Job Interview

Epic Old Man - Baby Prank

Aw, c’mon now–let’s not exaggerate!

What images does the phrase “advising the child ” conjure up for you?

“Ooh-ooh! I know! A 27-year-old Gen Z job applicant bringing his mommy and daddy with him to his job interview!”

Tut-tut. According to a survey by Resume Templates, that description applies to a mere 26% of Gen Z job applicants (https://thehill.com/business/4711312-26-percent-of-gen-z-applicants-bringing-parent-to-job-interview-survey/).

Sheesh, My parents were already my parents when they were 27.

Obviously–must I be bold, to say this?–assuming the “child” (27 years old) lands the job, neither daddy nor mommy will come with him to work every day to make sure he… uh, works. Do you think the employer will have high expectations of this new employee?

I don’t think I would.

  1. You have got to be kidding, bring your parents to a job interview … I hope no employer would even consider hiring someone who would do such a foolish thing. What kind of parent would even consider that this is a good thing, that it would help his child????

  2. When I was 27, I was self sufficient and living 1,000 miles away from my parents. I kept in touch with them, but they weren’t about to be asked to protect me from the realities of life.
