This was a big Far Left Crazy fad, ten years ago. Have your leg cut off, or your eyes blinded–because that’s what you “feel.” Or something. It’s still too crazy for me to explain.
I think the Transgender craze sucked all the oxygen out of the room and left the Voluntarily Disabled crowd out in the cold. Either way, it boils down to having yourself mutilated because (fill in the blank: I can’t).

In India some parents purposely lame their child so they can make more money begging. In America it is the same old reason for bizarre behavior, they want attention and boy do they ever get it. P.T. Barnum comes to mind.
