Squirrel Want a Coconut?

Gee, why won’t this squirrel take a bite out of this nice coconut we put out for him? It turns out there’s a reason for it.

If you watch carefully, you’ll see at least four squirrels getting involved in this situation.

  1. I used to think that was what a coconut looked like, fresh from a tree. That is just the inside. The whole nut has a husk (green), covering the part you see in the picture, and it’s a whole lot bigger.

  2. I used to feed squirrels all the time when we lived on the ranch, but never anything like a coconut. I gave them hazel nuts, etc. and they always showed up every day.
