I’m Wiped Out

Sorry, but I’m knocked out, weary, etc. We have to go to the hospital again this afternoon–to get to a weekend of staying home, watching movies, and not having to take my chemo pills again till Monday.

If I could just get rid of those &%$#^ bladder stones! But the cancer has to come first. Until then, all I can do is pray for a decent night’s sleep.

We’ve also had to do some work on Ozias, Prince in Peril. My primary editor, Susan, lost those first several chapter sets when the hurricane messed up her computer. Good thing we had them stored here! And the rest of Prince Enthroned has to be typed up and submitted for editing.

I still feel normal while I’m working on my books. It seems my host of symptoms can’t follow me into Obann. Thank you for that, Lord!

    1. I appreciate greatly that there are teachers out there with a true passion for teaching. I have to say that in my school years, I had some great teachers, over the years, who really wanted to help their students. Looking back on those learning years, I wish I could thank several of them who really made a difference in my life.

    2. I’ve spoken critically of some of my past teachers, and indeed, there were a handful who really should have been in another field, but I would state that most of my teachers were pretty decent people, who were trying to do good work and sincerely wanted to help students to learn.

There were a few true standouts: Mrs. Lavonne, Mrs. Judge, Mr. Hall, Mr. Bailey (who defined the rules and explained that the book of Daniel had predicted Greek history), Mrs. May and Mr. Lloyd. These were truly good people whom I remember fondly, and appreciate. I actually got to thank one of them in person, not that many years ago.

While I was never in the public schools, there are some people out there who can play guitar because I helped them to learn and I took my teaching quite seriously. I was in my early twenties, when I did most of my teaching, but it wasn’t a “kid job”. I have a lot of respect for actual teaching, and I still endeavor to help younger coworkers to learn technical skills.

Sadly, the profession seems to have moved to a much different place, in our day, and between the unions, the mindset of many colleges and the curricula forced upon teachers in our day … let’s just say that teaching isn’t what it used to be.

  1. I used to have the same experience in the classroom when I was teaching. No matter how sick or weary or upset I was, as soon as I walked into the classroom and started teaching, I was all wired up, energetic, and almost euphoric. Then I’d go back to my office and resume being sick, weary, etc., unless a student came in to see me, in which case I once again became wired up, etc. Fortunately, students were always coming in to see me, so teaching days were like vacations from all my troubles.

There’s just something in talking about things we love to people we love that makes life beautiful, no?

  2. Sounds like the enemy (Satan and his demons) do not want your book to be finished and published. Show them how our faith overcomes the world and the demonic. We have the victory in our Lord Jesus Christ!
