Happy Fourth of July, everybody!
My Country, ‘Tis of Thee–I can’t hear this, let alone try to sing it, without my eyes filling up. “Long may our land be bright/ with freedom’s holy light!/ Protect us by thy might,/ great God our King.”
Those words have never been truer than they are now.
I love this song, especially that stanza addressed to God.

We sang this last night among the other great patriot songs at our Christian Patriot party last night at our River Valley City Elders meeting – what a great time over 60 of us had, along with a guest speaker full of the fire of the Holy Spirit advocating our being engaged in our local community (you know, civic government who makes the laws we have to abide by). I led us in a “Who Said” game of patriotic quotes.
Sounds like a good time.
