‘My Country, ‘Tis of Thee’

Happy Fourth of July, everybody!

My Country, ‘Tis of Thee–I can’t hear this, let alone try to sing it, without my eyes filling up. “Long may our land be bright/ with freedom’s holy light!/ Protect us by thy might,/ great God our King.”

Those words have never been truer than they are now.

‘My Country, ‘Tis of Thee’

I don’t know about you, but these words stir my soul: “Long may our land be bright with freedom’s holy light: protect us by Thy might, great God our King.” What can we say but “Amen”?

Happy Fourth of July, everybody. May God restore our country.

By Request, ‘God Bless America’

Sue requested this one–and what better a day for it than the Fourth of July?–God Bless America, sung by Kate Smith backed up by a full Warner Bros. orchestra. And with a choir, too.

Some of us still love our country; and we will try our level best to save it.

By Request, ‘God Bless Our Native Land’

Requested by “thewhiterabbit,” God Bless Our Native Land. You already know the tune, and the lyrics appear on screen in case you’d like to sing along. You can’t beat this organ instrumental, and some of the photography will stir your soul. God has indeed blessed our country: we do well to remember that.
