Dig this headline from three years ago–and try not to laugh… or scream.
“Scientists Say We’re Thinking Too Hard” (https://leeduigon.com/2022/08/14/scientists-say-were-thinking-too-hard/).
No ship–hard thinking, say French scientists, causes waxy buildup in the brain. Where’s Mr. Clean when you need him?
How many people do you know who think too hard? And where do you find them?
Inquiring minds want to know.
Years ago, I remember reading a quip, that “when all was said and done, more is said than is ever done”. The chatter is endless, and a lot of it is meaningless.
One thing I feel strongly about is that the complexity of day to day life has increased, and I believe that a lot of people are just hanging on. When I mentally revisit earlier days, I remember how much more simple things were, before the Internet era.
Spoken by one who knows…
I suspect that something akin to tech burnout is causing some of the deranged behaviors we hear about in the news.
What happens to a mind that’s hooked up to a computer every waking moment?
The idea of a computer interacting with a brain is mostly fantasy. They have used electrodes to stimulate parts of the brain, such as in treating the symptoms of Parkinson’s disease, but reading specific thoughts or implanting data is a pipe dream. But even without such a direct connection, a populace that lives with their head buried in a smartphone is still being significantly affected by computers, and false or misleading information can be very dangerous.
I was thinking of the quality of information being pumped into the defenseless, flabby mind.
That’s a massive risk.
I thought staying actively engaged in hard thinking was the way to prevent Alzheimer’s, but now we find out all that does is put wax in our brain – or maybe those French scientists are borderline Dementia.
Stop thinking!
