‘Oh, Sinner Man, Where You Gonna Run To?

Can’t seem to lift myself out of the blues today. Maybe this old-fashioned spiritual will help: Oh, Sinner Man, Where You Gonna Run To?  You can’t beat this: a spiritual from the Caribbean transferred to the cold black-and-white of the Irish Sea.

I know I post it fairly often; but I find some comfort in it.

Bonus Hymn: ‘O Sinner Man’

Morning appointment done (ow, ow, ow my hip!), now we’ve got to gear up for the afternoon doctoring.

I have time to post a hymn, if I can think of one quickly. Before they stop me. O Sinner Man popped into my head–something about the Caribbean spiritual adapting to the chilly waters around Scotland.

Why can’t I shake the feeling that the medical profession is moving toward DIY surgery?

‘Oh, Sinner Man…’

See the way people are behaving, these days–do you want to be caught outside Jesus Christ’s protection, on Judgment Day?

Oh, Sinner Man, Where You Gonna Run To? Would you believe we sang that at Y Camp, oh, so long ago?

‘Oh, Sinner Man’

Would you believe we used to sing this in junior high school–O, Sinner Man, Where You Gonna Run To?

Take a Caribbean spiritual, move it to the northern reaches of the Irish Sea, add a few seals… and you can see that this hymn is a message to us all, wherever we may be.
