Creepy Clowns Ramping It Up

Is this starting to get serious, or what?

Yesterday a nut in a clown costume, armed with a knife, chased a teenage boy out of a New York City subway station ( http://www.nbcnewyork.com/news/local/Clown-With-Kitchen-Knife-Chases-Teen-out-of-Subway-Station-NYPD-396121641.html) . The fact that the clown didn’t catch the boy has not allayed the fears of the NYPD, who are looking to catch this…er, clown and charge him with a crime.

And a Connecticut school district has banned clown costumes for Halloween.

More and more of these incidents are cropping up nationwide. It’s not quite as harmless a fad as hula hoops or pet rocks–it’s really scaring people.

But let’s put things in perspective: the persons currently running our country are a lot scarier than creepy clowns.

Send in… the Creepy Clowns?

USA Today has reported that in 14 states, coast to coast, “creepy clown” incidents have begun to worry law enforcement agencies ( http://www.cincinnati.com/story/news/nation-now/2016/10/04/creepy-clowns-strike-nerve-real-clowns/91537220/ ). It’s gotten so bad, the World Clown Association has had to make a public statement that these menacing characters “are not real clowns.” No, they’re not talking about anyone in our government.

What gives? Why are there people dressing up as not-so-funny clowns and coming out to chase little kids and stalk women? People find them very scary. They don’t seem to have done any bodily harm to anybody–yet–but local police departments in 14 different states seem to be increasingly concerned. Is it all just a twisted bit of fun? Or is it cooking up to be something worse?

It would be interesting to catch one of these characters and persuade him to explain himself.

Meanwhile, to me it looks like just another example of culture rot, the inevitable consequence of having a whole country governed and administered and lorded over by a massive pack of fools, villains, and nut-jobs. You’ve heard of “trickle-down economics.” Well, we’ve got trickle-down depravity.

Thank you, public schools and colleges. Thank you, Hollywood.
