How Do Cats Get Away With This?

I don’t know what our national pastime is anymore, but I’m pretty sure cats’ is stealing dogs’ beds. And the dogs have to put up with it.

But it’s not all frustrated dogs. Some of them let the cat have what-for; and some of them reach a cuddly compromise.

(How’s that for an unimaginative headline? But I’m very tired just now. Too much rain today.)

In addition to providing love and companionship, our dogs and cats amuse us. They have reasons for the things they do, but those are closely guarded secrets.

Hide & Shriek

Dogs love playing hide and seek. When I was a boy I used to play it with our dog, Rags. He was crazy about it.

Some cats will play it, but they’d rather turn it into the ever-popular Ambush Game. If the victim trips and falls, the cat wins.

All Aboard! (Cats & Dogs)

None of our cats ever got used to riding in a car. Just couldn’t stand it. Dogs bear up better, I guess, because they want to be like their humans. Just try selling that idea to a cat and see where it gets you.

Our rats were perfect little angels when I had to take them to the vet: sat peacefully on my shoulder the whole time.
