By Request, ‘All the World Was Waiting’

Requested by Joshua–All the World Was Waiting, sung a capella by GLAD. Enjoy!

Okay, we’ve posted a lot of Christmas hymns for you today. Out here it’s raining, it’s dark, and Patty and I are still a little bit under the weather; so now we’re going to take a break and watch A Christmas Carol, the one with George C. Scott as Scrooge. I hope you’re all enjoying listening to this potpourri of Christmas music.

By Request, ‘All Praise to You’

Ah, here it is, Joshua’s other hymn–All Praise to You, by GLAD.

The other night Patty said something that set off my imagination. What was it like for those shepherds to whom the heavenly host appeared in the sky, to announce the birth of the Messiah? Really, can you imagine being there for that?

By Request, ‘In the First Light’

Joshua asked for two hymns by GLAD today, but only this one loaded: In the First Light. I’ll have to try again later for the other one. Movin’ kind of slow today…

By Request, ‘O Come, O Come Emmanuel’ (GLAD)

From Joshua we have this request: O Come, O Come Emmanuel sung in a capella by GLAD.

Keep those Christmas hymns coming, everybody. In the name of Jesus Christ Our King, we defy this fallen world.

By Request, ‘One Quiet Moment’

We have a request from Joshua–One Quiet Moment, by GLAD. Sorry for the delay in posting it–I just had to get that book finished.

Come one, come all, to our first annual Christmas Carol Contest! A lot of you haven’t played yet–don’t worry about running out of Christmas hymns, that just ain’t gonna happen.

By Request, ‘For Unto Us a Child is Born’

Requested by Joshua, For Unto Us a Child is Born: part of Handel’s Messiah, sung a capella by GLAD.

By Request, ‘God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen’

Requested by Joshua, God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen, performed by Don Pardoe and GLAD–a capella, the hard way.

By Request, ‘A Mighty Fortress’ (GLAD)

Requested by Joshua: A Mighty Fortress, performed a capella by GLAD. There were several video treatments available, but at least one, I feared, might not be comfortable to watch–a picture of a pier running out to sea, made to rock up and down, back and forth, I wonder whose idea that was. But we are here to listen to the hymn.

By Request, ‘Arise, My Soul, Arise’

We have a hymn request this morning, this one from Joshua, for Arise, My Soul, Arise by Charles Wesley, performed a capella by Glad. It’s amazing, how well some of the 18th century hymns adapt to modern arrangements.

Yo, if you’re new here, let me tell you that we take hymn requests, one a day or even two, if we can get them. If there’s a favorite hymn or worship song you’d like to see posted here, just let us know and we’ll do the rest. You can make your request as a “reply” to any blog post or comment.

By Request, ‘Awesome God’ by Glad

Wow! This Joshua’s first hymn request, and it just blew me out of the water–Awesome God, sung a capella by Glad. Awesome, too, what can be done with human voices when the singers put their minds to it.

You might want to turn up the volume on this one.
