We’re at the Royal Albert Hall in London (in spirit) to hear the choir, full orchestra, and a couple thousand people sing Holy, Holy, Holy; and then for a bonus they’ll go on to give us Now Thank We All Our God. Sometimes there’s nothing like the full treatment! Make a joyful noise unto the Lord.

This is the hymn that was in my mind last night and this morning–Holy, Holy, Holy. I believe I ought to go with such promptings when I get them. This version is by the Norton Hall Band at Southern Seminary.

Well, now it’s off to the vet for Robbie’s checkup–but first a hymn. Holy, Holy, Holy… a glimpse into the Book of Revelation.
It took me a long time to find someone not singing this glorious hymn as if it were part of a funeral procession: Holy, Holy, Holy, Lord God Almighty. This ought to be sung with a note of triumph and rejoicing in it!
I’m running out of versions of this hymn to post here. I’d like it best being blasted out of a mighty organ and being sung, for all they’re worth, by about a thousand people. But maybe some of you will enjoy this gentler Hillsong rendition. But whatever arrangement we prefer, it’s the message that counts–Holy, Holy, Holy, Lord God Almighty!

Yes, this is what I was looking for this morning. This is what I needed.
Holy, Holy, Holy, Lord God Almighty, here performed by the First Plymouth Church in Lincoln, Nebraska, is one of those hymns that brings the glory and majesty of Christ Our King straight into the believing heart. You might want to turn up the volume on this one.
Remember, I take hymn requests… and anyone can make one. A few of you do; but if you enjoy these hymns, and haven’t yet asked for one–well, here we are.
I didn’t understand, when I was in Sunday school, that the imagery of the second verse (“all the saints adore thee, casting down their golden crowns around the glassy sea”) comes directly from the Book of Revelation. The rest of the lyrics also arise from the Bible.
I used to think this was just one of those tedious hymns adults liked to sing when they were showing off.
Now I know better; and as this hymn has been playing itself in my mind these past few days, I thought I’d like to share it with you.
