In our old Dutch Reformed hymnal, way back when, this hymn was sung to the tune of Adeste Fideles. I haven’t heard it sung that way since.

In the church I grew up in, they sang this hymn to the tune of O Come All Ye Faithful. I wonder if ours was the only church that did that.

How Firm a Foundation is one of my favorite hymns; and the way it’s performed by Maddy Prior and the Carnival Band is probably very close to the way it sounded when it was first sung in the 18th century.
