Gee, I miss the Silly Season. That’s what we newspaper reporters and editors called the summer. For two glorious months, most of the nooze we had to cover was profoundly unimportant. But it could be kind of fun to pretend otherwise.
Where has it gone, our beloved Silly Season? It was a break from all the usual business of public figures tearing one another down, hissing, spitting, cursing. And others being purely tiresome, trying to boost themselves up.
