Bonus Hymn, ‘Joyful, Joyful We Adore Thee’

I heard this, faintly, as I was posting something else; and then nothing would do but to hear it clearly: Joyful, Joyful, We Adore Thee. Music by Beethoven, sung by the Mennonite Hour Singers–and sets by God the Father. The combination never fails to bring me close to tears of joy.

Our God is an awesome God, and the wicked shall not conquer.

‘Joyful, Joyful We Adore Thee’

If this doesn’t stir your soul, better check and see if you can fog a mirror.

Joyful, Joyful We Adore Thee–all it takes is music by Beethoven, a couple thousand people singing it with all they’ve got, a full orchestra, and the acoustics of the Royal Albert Hall. Turn up the volume!

‘Joyful, Joyful We Adore Thee’

Before plunging into today’s dreary news in a fallen world, let’s turn up the volume, way up, and boldly–defiantly, one might even say–proclaim the sovereign lordship of Almighty God.

From the Royal Albert Hall, music composed by Beethoven, sung by hundreds all at once, with a full orchestra–Joyful, Joyful We Adore Thee.

Crank it way up.
