Baboons on the Warpath

How good an idea is this, really?

Well, this one I just had to cover.

Baboons at the Knowsley Safari Park in England have been using human tools–knives, screwdrivers, hammers… and a chainsaw–to attack visitors’ cars (https://www.thesun.co.uk/news/12227253/safari-park-baboons-armed-knives-screwdrivers-chainsaw/).

Park officials suspect “pranksters” are giving the tools to the baboons so they can watch them go after a car; but it’s also possible the baboons are stealing the tools on their own initiative. They may not be able to manufacture a screwdriver, but they can learn how to use one. They haven’t yet been able to turn the chainsaw on.

My first thought was, maybe they just don’t like all these cars coming through their home. Or maybe it’s just irresistibly fun to trash visitors’ cars.

The rules say you can’t leave the car while you’re in the park. Who would want to?

This could get, shall we say, out of hand. What if somebody gives the baboons something rather more dangerous than a hammer?
