Yeeowch! I am Wounded!

So… a huge pile of editing work came in this morning. But it was such a beautiful, sunny morning that I couldn’t just chain myself to the computer. No–I hadda go for a bike ride. Take advantage of the lovely weather.

And there I was, cruising along, most of the time without using my hands–and suddenly the bike wobbled way too much, I was slow in correcting for it, and I had a great fall. Like Humpty-Dumpty, only bloodier.

Thank you, judo teachers of my youth! I succeeded in protecting my head, no knock on the noggin at all. But my elbow wasn’t so lucky, and I wound up having to go to the doctor and have just come back. Road burn, she calls it: very easy for it to get seriously infected. And there I was thinking, slap a little mercurochrome on it and go back out to play.

Tomorrow I will have to work twice as hard. *sigh*

Oh, well. Show me someone who has never fallen off a bicycle, and I’ll show you someone who has never ridden a bicycle.

  1. Oh my! That’s no fun! But it surely could have been worse (not that that’s much consolation). I pray you heal quickly and without infection. Meanwhile, cruising hands-on may be in order for awhile 🙂

    1. Now everybody’s going to think I’m a muffin because I fell off my bike. But I am resolved the get right back on as soon as I can.

    2. Not a chance, Lee. There is a reason events like this are called accidents – and we’ve all had our share. Press on, kind sir.

    1. Linda, thanks–I will certainly use some of these, starting tomorrow.

I’m kind of in pain just now, so maybe I’ll post one of these hymns later this evening.

    2. Feel better and rest up, Lee. Take a break. You’re lifted up in prayer. We’ll all be here. God Bless.

  2. Don’t feel bad, I ran into a mail box once. But in the words of Evel Knieval, “Bones heal, pain is temporary and chicks dig scars.”

  3. Why don’t you use the handlebars? Don’t you like the feel of them or something? Have you tried a unicycle? You only have the one wheel to handle. Sometimes, I find it difficult to understand men.

    1. Marge, to coast along no-handed is very soothing and pleasant. It makes me feel young again. My doctor is a woman and she, too, enjoys riding her bike no-handed. (“She’s crazy, too!”)

  4. I’ll say! Your doctor’s a woman and she enjoys cycling sans handlebars as well? Hmmmmm…….
