‘Scientific Research Fraud on the Rise’

Hi, everybody! It’s me, the Cardiff Giant, the 19th century’s most famous scientific fraud.

There ain’t a lot to do, just being a museum exhibit, so I like to follow the progress of 21st century scientific fraud. Did you know there’s a study that shows that bogus scientific papers have become almost ten times more common than they were in the 1970s ( http://www.cbsnews.com/news/study-scientific-research-fraud-on-the-rise/ )?

And remember–that doesn’t count the ones that get away with fraud. These are just the ones that got caught and had to be retracted by the publisher.

I love you folks who say, “Well, they still have a long way to go before they top the Cardiff Giant!” But the fact is, when it comes to scientific fraud, I ain’t fit to run errands for the grand-daddy of ’em all–Global Warming (Climate Change, when the weather’s cold).

Y’know, when I got exposed as a humbug, interest in me kinda dried up and blew away. But by now, even though it’s been thoroughly exposed, Global Warming is still alive and kicking. I guess that’s because world leaders like it. Me, I was just the poor old Cardiff Giant. They never had me over to the White House.

  1. Well, hey, they have to have something to keep their little juvenile minds occupied. “Fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom” so obviously, their wisdom and understanding has not begun yet. Give them time…? No, I think they are willfully blind and intend to stay that way until Judgment Day.

  2. Hey, Cardiff Giant, did you clear this ‘outing’ of the scientific community with Al Gore or Michael Moore before you exposed all this?

  3. And, by the way, I sure hope Joe Collidge doesn’t get wind of this. It might set his antenners back to spinning!

  4. Proverbs 22:1 says: “A good name is to be more desired than great wealth,
Favor is better than silver and gold.” It used to be that the scientific and academic communities worked to have a good name and to be famed for their integrity. There were hoaxes, like the Cardiff Giant and the Piltdown Man, but these were very rare exceptions. Nowadays, it seems that whatever can get you a grant is the way they choose to go.

    1. Now, now! All that fraud is for our own good! And it’s our fault, too, for not just taking scientists’ word for everything. Naughty, naughty, naughty peasants!

  5. Some Cardinal is calling for Pope Francis to resign because he supposedly let some archbishop slide who had molested children. The Pope’s spokesman said the Pope has more important things to be occupied with like Global Warming, the environment, and migrants than to be going down the rabbit hole of sexual misconduct. He even said the Pope was being assailed because he was a Latino. I long for the days of Pope John Paul II.

    1. This could really grow into something huge. I’m no fan of this guy; I think he’s much more about politics than about spirituality, so I wouldn’t be surprised by much of anything, with regard to him.
