Here’s an article I wrote for Faith For All Of Life in 2016, about the lamentable state of the Young Adult fiction market. These people are amazingly candid about what they hope to do to their audience.

Could we, like, please stop letting them do it?

  1. I tried writing a Young Adult fiction book but my editor strongly encouraged me to do a complete rewrite which took the wind out of my sails. With summer break from teaching coming up, I may tackle a rewrite. Lee’s right in warning against Scholastic Publishing books – pure Common Core/PC stuff. And he is right not everyone can write books like Lee does!

    1. I was in our public library last night searching for a good book to read. I went up and down the many book aisles looking inside books by James Michener, E.M. Forster, Wm Faulkner, Pearl S. Buck, Amy Tan, but decided on “Moon Men” by Edgar Rice Burroughs.
