‘The Last Rose of Summer’

I’ve been having a terrible time trying to post this video.

This morning, for no reason I can discover, the procedure I’ve used to post videos–used it thousands of times without a problem–suddenly refused to work. WordPress has given me an alternative procedure that’s very complicated and difficult.

This day is shaping up to be a ripe old rotter.

I wished to post this beautiful song… to relax! Well, that didn’t work out. All I’ve done was lose about two hours of work time. Now I have to try to catch up. *Sigh*

    1. I never dreamed that posting this song would lead me into so much trouble.
I first heard that melody years ago, as part of the uncredited musical score in “Gaslight”; and again, as a background tune in a beautiful, sweet story–on Alfred Hitchcock Presents, of all places!–I think entitled, “Lady Alice.” And just the other day was the very first time I heard the title of the tune.

I might’ve guessed Thomas Moore had written it.

  1. Uh oh, did WordPress change something? I haven’t tried to post videos this week but was thinking about it for Monday. Maybe I’d best not wait until Sunday night to set it up.

    1. All the videos I’ve posted came from Youtube, because I couldn’t make them work if I tried videos from any other source.
Please let me know if you run into a snag. That’ll tell me whether it’s a Youtube change or not.
The “happiness engineer” at WordPress yesterday taught me how to work around the problem (’cause he couldn’t figure out how to make it go away). It’s cumbersome, but if I can do it, anybody can do it. A hamster could do it.
Might be a good idea, though, to experiment while you can afford for it to fail. Good luck!

    2. Chalcedon obtained and set up this site for me, and they pay the dues every year. It’s got some custom features, but not as many as Joshua’s site (his is really cool). Anyway, it’s not free.
If you’ve got the same kind of stats page I have, down near the lower right-hand quarter there’s a question-mark icon you can click for live help from a WordPress “happiness engineer.”
