Yes, I know this is a Christmas hymn, and I know it’s July; but when I hymn comes barreling into my head over supper, I take that as a sign that I ought to use it.
Gaudete means “rejoice”–rejoice in the birth of Jesus Christ our Savior, Jesus Christ our king. And there is no day in all the year when it’s wrong to do so.
Beautiful! Thanks for posting this, Mr. Duigon!!
Mr. Duigon, is it alright if I post the chess lessons you gave me on my blog someday?
Sure, why not?
I keep meaning to give another lesson, but with all this doctoring, I haven’t had time.
Thank you, sir! I’ll post the lessons as a series.
This sounds like an old one, but new to me!! “Rejoice” always reminds me of the epistle of joy, “Letter to the Philippians.”
It’s an old one, all right–from the 1200s.
