Looks like he passed the course!
So… back in 2017, this student was a “danger” and a menace to the whole stupid college because he disputed a Muslim professor’s claim that the crucifixion of Jesus Christ was a hoax.
See, this is what I wonder about. Given what “college” has become, why does anybody still send their kids there? It costs a fortune, and when they’re not getting Far Left Crazy indoctrination against virtually everything, it’s the jihad johnnies’ turn to mince their minds.
By giving them our children and our money, we are giving them our approval to, er, “teach” all the garbage and filth that dominates the curricula today.
If we ever come to our senses, that’s it for the education establishment.
Mincing of minds describes these colleges more and more. I just received an outline of the new General Education curriculum that’s about to be instituted at my old university in the fall. Some of it is barely intelligible and the rest is anti-knowledge. The “bookend” courses, for example (beginning and ending courses, I gather), require students to report on their “reflections” about whatever the topic is, how the topic makes them “think and feel” about whatever it is, and so on. In other words, a report not on a topic but on their own reactions. I would have failed a student who took this approach to a topic. And then there are required courses in “embedded literacies,” a blanket subject that seems to include “advanced writing, data analysis, and technology,” whatever THAT means.
I can’t find anything about actual fields of study — or what universities used to consider fields of study — y’know, like facts, ideas, reality, and all that stuff?
It all makes me sick to my stomach. I retired in the nick of time.
Holy moly. If this stuff is unintelligible to a founder of the Andrew Marvell Society, what’s it going to be to the average student? I mean, c’mon, you’re a highly qualified professor of English, and this bilge is only bilge to you? I say that makes it bilge indeed.
But then we’re living in an age of bilge.
I’m afraid most of our colleges and universities will have to fail and go out of business before the survivors clean up their acts and go back to being what colleges and universities should be.
I’m not even a professor, and I feel your pain.
From what I have experienced from 5 years of sub-teaching in K-12, kids today cannot even write a coherent paper.
How can they learn to be coherent when they never learn how to talk effectively? And when all they hear is babble?
The U.S. public educational system, and the college/university system subsidized by the gov’t, indoctrinates into a secular religion “Man is the measure of all things.” Every true Christian preacher and pastor should be admonishing their congregations not to send their children there but encourage Christian education. The Book of James says Bible teachers will undergo stricter judgment. I agree, we live in an age of bilge – and also one of deceit and treacery.
