Phoebe asked for Adeste Fideles, so I have given her Pavarotti at Notre Dame Cathedral in Montreal.
Our Second Annual Christmas Carol Contest is off to a good start–I hope many of you enter. If you’ve never made a hymn request before, now’s as good a time as any to start.
When I was a little girl, I went to a Catholic elementary school. I’m not sure if I was in first or second grade but our class was taught to sing this beautiful Christmas hymn in Latin. Adeste Fideles was the first “religious” Christmas song that I remember singing.
Me, too–before the public schools were anti-Christian.
I love his amazing voice!
I’d like to request “Angels We Have Heard on High” performed by Rick Foster on the guitar. Here’s the link! https://youtu.be/QPTAy8bQbR0
Gorgeous. Just gorgeous. What a voice. He could blast out notes that shook the rafters and still give the impression that he had more force in reserve. And yet he could also do a pianissimo that shimmered with the delicacy of a cobweb.
I remember hearing him on your blog last year!
It is pretty hard to miss with Pavarotti, and pretty hard not to be inspired in a sanctuary like that one!
