I don’t think I know a hymn more beautiful than this one–This Is My Father’s World. Performed outdoors by students at Fountainview Academy.
“This is my father’s world! O let me ne’er forget/ That tho’ the wrong seems oft so strong,/ He is the ruler yet.”
This is a real favorite of mine. Every time I look out the window at all the changing beauty out there, this
song comes to me. I love it.
Hymn used for worship in church services are written in a way that is easy for the congregation to sing to. This is one of them, yet so beautiful (the lyrics really help!). Sometimes the simple is a better way than the complex and intricate. Even a child can understand the basic truths of the Bible. I will be having this tune play in my mind all morning, and I thank you for it.
Me, too! And it’s a welcome guest.
Comforting
Here is another favorite church hymn that keeps coming to me this morning: Draw Me Nearer
I love that one, too.
For whatever reason, I wept when I heard this hymn. Maybe, it’s the still fresh, very deep grief over the death of my beloved wife of 17 years. She passed away one month ago. I sang this to her as she lay dying in our home. Yes, its God’s world. “I don’t think I know a hymn more beautiful than this one,” Well, “Be Thou My Vision” with the old words, is also a very beautiful hymn.
I’ll post “Be Thou My Vision” for you today. I can’t begin to grasp the magnitude of your loss. But this is where our faith must save us.
There are no words to express the heartache and deep grief I feel. It still hurts so bad, my chest literally hurts. There is nothing anyone can really say, that will really help those who go through a great loss such as this. A friend came over two days after Maribeth passed away. All he said, “I have come to give you a big hug.” And he did. He said nothing else, but that was more comforting then any words he could have said.
Thanks, I will listen.
I ask everybody here to join in prayer for you.
Thank you. The sun will shine again, but for now, I must walk alone through the dark valley for a while.
