Squirrel Solitaire

The first time I ever saw this, I was amazed–a squirrel playing with a stick, jumping on it, rolling around with it, having a grand time. Well, what else are you supposed to do when there are no other squirrels around to chase?

Rodents are very, very smart, by the way. If they lived longer, they’d be playing chess.

  1. I used to love watching the squirrels playing around the trees, fence, and all over the place at our last residence. I would put a dish of nuts on top of a fence post, and every day they would come from down by the river and feast on those nuts.

    1. The squirrels around here love to play with sticks when they’re alone. They really get into it! Which suggests, of course, that they have pretty good imaginations.

  2. Once had two squirrels fighting in my back garden. The losing squirrel then attacked a magpie who was watching.
