Speaking for myself, when I see the sprawling host of enemies arrayed against the Church, it would do me good to see what Elisha’s servant saw:
God’s word is mightier than the whole mob of ’em put together. He has angelic hosts at His command: remember what one angel did to the Assyrian army that sought to take Jerusalem (2 Kings 19, and elsewhere). “They that be with us are more…!”
There have been many times in world history when it looked like the heathen and the wicked were about to swallow God’s people whole. But God’s people are still here, and those enemies are not.
Exactly, and it will always be that way. It is so futile and asinine to think mere humans can oppose the Almighty and get anywhere. This is one of my favorite stories in Scripture, and another is the battle of Elizah against the prophets and servants of Baal in the Book of Kings.
That turned out very badly for the Baal crew.
It surely did and it will always turn out that way.
Christ Jesus, the Hope of Glory!! Fear not, little flock, it is your Heavenly Father’s pleasure to give you the Kingdom.
