Cry for America

“The Spirit of ’76”–gone. But we still need it.

Sorry if this comes off as a rant, but sometimes I could just sit down and weep for my country… as by the waters of Babylon, Psalm 137.

The America that I grew up in is gone, covered over, drowned out by wicked nonsense. They stole our house and replaced it with a lean-to. When a governor (the unlamented Andrew Cuomo) says “America was never that great,” and a so-called president throws in “There’s nothing special about America,” it does seem we’re just about finished.

Look at our schools, if you can stand it, and universities. The dreck that comes pouring out of Disney Corp. Disney! The freaks and numbskulls who’ve been brought into our government. DAs who release violent criminals without bail. I can’t bear to make this list any longer: that would be the work of hours, and it would sicken my soul.

Pray for strength; we’ll need it. For courage, wisdom, endurance, and faith. Say prayers of repentance. Pray for God’s intervention.

Because I can’t see us getting much farther without it.

  1. I think of Jesus weeping over Jerusalem in Luke 19: “And when he was come near, he beheld the city, and wept over it, saying, If thou hadst known, even thou, at least in this thy day, the things which belong unto thy peace! but now they are hid from thine eyes. For the days shall come upon thee, that thine enemies shall cast a trench about thee, and compass thee round, and keep thee in on every side.”

  2. Yes, it certainly does seem very bleak for the USA. It was very bleak for the Children of Israel when they were trapped by Pharaoh’s army next to the Red Sea. The prophet Elijah despaired, even after the victory over the prophets of Baal atop of Mount Carmel, and God’s answer to his prayer for rain. Yeah, he heard that queen Jezebel was seeking to kill him. Thus, he fled for his life. When he complained to God that he was the only one left, that all Israel had forsaken God, what did the Lord say? He gave Elijah a mission, a task to do. Along with that, He told him, he was not the only one. “Yet I have left me seven thousand in Israel, all the knees which have not bowed unto Baal, and every mouth which hath not kissed him.” I Kings 19:18

We are not alone. All hope is not gone. There are millions of true Christians in the USA! And God truly is on our side. We have a task before us, and you know what it is. Stand! Be strong in the Lord. For greater is He that is in us, then he that is in the world!

  3. I would like to leave another comment, from my book, “Israel, Rapture, Tribulation: How to Sort Biblical Fact from Theological Fiction,” for it fits so well here.

“In the 2001 movie, Enemy at the Gates, which describes the events surrounding the Battle of Stalingrad in the winter of 1942 and 1943, Nikita Khrushchev, a commissar who served as an intermediary between Stalin and his generals, took charge of a Russian army that had lost hope and courage in defense of Stalingrad. The scene we will look at begins when Khrushchev walks into the office of the General in charge:

Red Army General: I carried out my orders. I sent in all of my boys. But the Germans engulfed us. They have artillery, aircraft, tanks. And me? What did I have?!
Khrushchev: Sacred duty to resist! I have to report back to the boss. [hands him a pistol] Perhaps you’d prefer to avoid the red tape. [Khrushchev walks out of the room to address political officers. There is a gunshot, then he begins] My name … is Nikita … Sergeyevich … Khrushchev. I’ve come to take things in hand here. This city is not Kursk, nor is it Kiev nor Minsk. This city is Stalingrad. Stalin-grad! The city bears the name of the boss. It’s more than a city, it’s a symbol. If the Germans capture this city, the entire country will collapse. Now, I want our boys to raise their heads. I want them to act like they have BALLS! I want them to stop SHITTING THEIR PANTS! [briefly pauses] That’s your job. As political officers, I’m counting on you. You, what’s your suggestion?
Officer #1: Shoot all the other generals who have retreated. And their chiefs of staff, too.
    Officer #2: M-make s-some examples. D-d-d-d-d-de-port the families of the d-d-deserters.
Khrushchev: [Bored] Yes, yes, that’s all been done.
Danilov: Give them hope! [Khrushchev walks over, pushes an officer out of the way to stand face to face to Danilov] Here the men’s only choices is between German bullets and ours. But there’s another way, a way of courage, a way of love of the Motherland. We must publish the army newspaper again. We must tell magnificent stories, stories that extol sacrifice, bravery, courage. We must give them hope, pride, a desire to fight. We must make them believe in the victory. Yes, we need to make examples, yes, but examples to follow. What we need are heroes.
Khrushchev: [skeptical] Do you know any heroes around here?
Danilov: Yes, comrade. I know one.

Although an evil man, there is something to be said about Khrushchev’s spirit, disposition, and stance. When he heard Danilov speak the words, “Give them hope,” he immediately recognized the truthfulness of his words. Without hope, the Russian army could not hold out; much less defeat the mighty forces the Germans had arrayed against them.

The Church in America is going down in flames; the pastors have a “Sacred duty to resist!” However, what do they give their troops, hope for victory in the land? No, just escape (the Rapture), for they preach things are getting worse and worse.

To use Danilov’s words, we must publish magnificent stories, stories that extol sacrifice, bravery, courage (and there are many such true stories). We must give the Church hope, pride, a desire to fight. We must make them believe in the victory. We need heroes (a few have been mentioned in this book), and we do not have but just one hero, there is a multitude of them.”

    1. I can’t add anything to that… except to say that there seem to be times in history when each man or woman must be his own hero, because that’s what the times demand.

  4. I just came across this prayer on this blog: that also fits so well with the other comments I made. I am going to be praying this prayer.

We call upon you to move in the power of Your might. We recognize our nation has gone the way of Baal and idolatry, and You are justified in Your judgments. We recognize the slaughter of the innocent demands a reckoning. We don’t come before you as a righteous nation, one that is intent on upholding the ways of the Kingdom of God, but one instead that is groaning under the weight of corruption and wickedness. We know that there are none righteous, no not one, apart from the atonement of Christ.

We recognize that the institutional church has compromised its calling to bring the lost to salvation, and has partnered with the systems of the world. And yet, my Lord, You have reserved a people who have not compromised, who have practiced repentance and the ways of Your kingdom.

Father, You remain faithful even when we are faithless, for You cannot deny yourself. Forgive us our complacency, our compromise, our apathy. Forgive us our inaction and our weaknesses. Restore the fear of the Lord in our land, in our homes and in our hearts. Transfer power from the works of darkness to the Kingdom of God, and give us the wisdom and abilities to wield it with the wisdom of Heaven and the authority of Christ.

Father have mercy on our nation, for our rulers are wicked and have partnered with the works of darkness. They have deceived the simple-minded and weak-willed; they have pacified and distracted even the strong and mindful. They have been empowered by abhorrent deeds of wickedness in their partnership to the gods of darkness. They have compromised our government, our society, our culture, our families, our public and private venues and installed cultural evils, works of iniquity, and a culture of sin from diabolical orders of evil in nearly every realm.

Spirit of the Living God, send your angelic hosts of heaven to war on our behalf. Enable the righteous to partner with heaven and its Kingdom of righteousness to bring down the giants deployed in our land. Anoint your Davids and Deborahs and the children of Your kingdom. Raise up and release Elijahs to confront the priests and servants of Baal and expose their impotence.

Do not abandon us to the powers of darkness in our hour of need. If you do not intervene our nation will be lost, and yet we know You care about the hearts of men. Rescue us from the tyrants around us. Remove the ungodly persons’ power, those bent on the works of flesh and the works of darkness. Bring them to repentance, and if they will not repent, bring them to judgment. Deliver us from our oppressors and let Your Spirit embolden us to walk in the authority of Christ who redeemed us from the works of darkness.

Render Your verdict, King of Glory, upon our land. Shut the mouth of the enemy. Expose the hidden works of darkness, and release the light of Your Kingdom in our hearts, our homes, in the byways and highways, in the public and private arenas. May the sons and daughters of God arise in the authority of the King of kings and slay the giants opposing the Living God, and make open spectacles of the priests and servants of wickedness, for Your Great Name, and for Your Glory.

We call upon You, Ancient of Days, to arrest the wickedness in our land, deliver Your people, and release Your power and glory. Let God arise and His enemies be scattered. May the children of God arise and shatter the works of darkness that all may know Yahweh is God and there is none other, that Christ is the King of kings and holds the title deed of earth and has come to set the captives free, to heal the broken, and to save the lost to reconcile mankind to the Creator, Jehovah.
