Mark Rushdoony found this picture and put it on our Facebook page.
This “tree”–is it a tree?–took a wrong turn somewhere and is now trying to find its way back to Narnia. Or maybe it’s a Huorn strayed from Middle-Earth. Don’t get too close!
Y’know, I think if I’d have seen this picture when I was five years old or so, it would’ve given me fits for several nights in a row…
Probably the straightest mesquite tree on earth. 🙂 What looks like two “legs” are two taproots that have been exposed by erosion.
You hadda go and spoil it, didn’tcha?
Sorry about that. I have a yard full of trees, many of which are every bit as twisted. You have to get up pretty early in the morning if you want to impress me with pictures of twisted, tortured trees. 🙂
You people out West have all the fun. Our New Jersey trees just stand there.
Mesquite are known to attack. I recently tangled with a mesquite and ended up with a very nasty cluster of welts on my arm, which took over a month to heal.
wow that’s all I have to say on this one
Could be right out of a zombie movie,
They are like zombies. Killing a mesquite is nearly impossible.
Especially if they’re able to run away.
I sleep with one eye open. 🙂
Seriously, it is a pain in tne neck. It grows like a weed. I spent several weeks tracking down new growth mesquite and killing the plants, last month. I’ll spend weeks pruning and cutting back. Then I can break out the Jonsered and hope that I don’t destroy too many chains cutting large branches back.
We don’t have anything like that out here. Mostly we have cars.
Mesquite is no fun. It outlasts cars. There are cacti in the area that probably were in existence when Cortez was exploring.
