When Do They Listen?

Reading the Bible regularly, one eventually gets the impression that God’s people just about never listen to God’s prophets, and are more likely to kill them than to heed them. The ultimate example of that, of course, is Our Lord Jesus Christ Himself.

Correct me if I’m wrong; but isn’t it so, that the only people in the Old Testament who listened to a prophet, and repented… were the freakin’ pagans in the Assyrian capital of Nineveh!

Couldn’t get Israel to listen. Couldn’t get Judah to listen.

Does America listen? Will she, before it’s too late?

I don’t know.

  1. I can’t think of much to say, except that this is one of the most astute observations I have ever read. The Ninevites, we’re not exactly the greatest people to hang around, but they listened, and Israel, who were only there because of a miraculous delivery from bondage in Egypt, couldn’t be bothered to pay attention to the prophets sent by the very God that provided escape.

It’s easy to ruminate on how all of this will work out, but I fear that there are not many people who really care about what God thinks. BTW, I am including in this group. people that call themselves Christian, but whom choose to listen only to the portions of the word of God which they find agreeable.

  2. Josiah led a great revival. I am praying our brother in Christ, Donald J. Trump, will be so filled with the Holy Spirit he will share his Christian testimony at his huge rallies, and even let evangelists speak to the crowd. America was founded a Christian Constitutional Republic. Benjamin Rush wanted the Holy Bible to be the main textbook in every school house.

    1. In one of the high schools where I subbed, the “Sex Education” textbooks were not allowed to be taken out of the room, nor could a substitute teacher–NOR A PARENT–be permitted to see them.
