What might the future hold for a republic that spends billions of dollars to “teach” children things that are not true? To curry favor with “authority” by telling teachers and other adults what those adults want to hear, even when both parties know it isn’t true? To get ahead by lying.
Wow. Won’t that make our business and our politics just swell, with everybody lying to us all the time? It’s already hard enough to get a straight answer!
And which outcome is worse? People learn to believe the lies they’re told–or else wind up believing nobody? Either way is bad for us.
Public education: working every day to dumb us down and strip us of our freedom.
John Dewey is herald for his contributions to the public school system. He signed the first Humanist Manifesto. Read it and see for yourself why we are where we are when it comes to public schools that are in reality government schools.
One of the great villains of modern history…
I didn’t like all of my teachers, but in retrospect, all but a relative handful were pretty decent people, and lived to fairly high moral standards. I knew that there was a School Board, but I had no idea who was on it. For the most part, we were taught to be upright, honest people, and loyal citizens. Many of my schoolmates rebelled, to some degree, by high school, but most of us grew up, found work, and built lives for ourselves. We ended up, much like we were taught, upright, honest people, and loyal citizens. That sure doesn’t seem to be going on, anymore.
I remember, some 8-10 years ago, being in the drive-up at a Jack in the Box restaurant, on my way to work, and there was a boy in his late teens, sitting on his bike, next to the drive-up lane. He appeared unkempt, and was glaring at the people driving up to grab a quick breakfast, on the fly. He was obviously very angry, and most likely quite jealous of the people driving through, as if our middle class sufficiency was somehow an affront to him. This was, by the way, in a modern, prosperous neighborhood. Obviously, this young fellow had some very negative influences in his life.
Now, 8-10 years later, I can’t help but wonder what became of this kid. Did he finally decide to work, and accept that he needed to make a contribution to this flawed world, or did he choose to stick to his short-sighted principals and refuse to engage in life, choosing to indulge his hatred? I’ll never know, but I can’t help but assume that a kid like this had to have had his mind poisoned, and the public schools would be my first suspect.
Nobody does it better.
For sure.
