Gee, how can you keep failing schools from shutting down?
The answer is obvious: lower the standards!
North Carolina was confronted by a problem: “Damn! Too many of our public schools are failing!” What to do? Well, no sense riling the teachers’ unions. Just change the definition of failure! The “F” mark used to be “60”; so they lowered it to “39”.
What happens when it gets down to “0”?
The schools are turning out people whose diplomas have become meaningless. They are doing no one any favors.

Really hard to imagine. When I went to school, things were very cut and dried. You either made it or you didn’t. Now, everything seems so …. I don’t wonder that young people can’t
do justice to a job. They can’t spell, can’t do math, do not use proper English– oh, maybe
that is because they come from another country???
