Stay with the red eft, it’s a nice picture.
I still can’t quite believe this story.
How do we even describe the mental landscape we encounter here? What kind of civilization basks in it, wallows in it, gobbles it up and asks for more?
Why does this remind me of a former neighbor who threw his TV set down the stairs and then said, “Look what happened”?
P.S.–Facebook has just removed this post, saying it violates their standards. I don’t see how.
So pathetic. What on earth does a person involved in this evil expect to be the outcome.
If you take up lion taming, it should be no surprise that your job is dangerous.
A number of years ago, I saw a video made by a woman that had been in that business, left to become a Christian, and started a ministry to help people escape that industry and hopefully serve as a source of information to expose the dangers to young women being lured in that direction.
She interviewed a young woman who had been recruited as a model, but then found out that she had to consent to nude modeling if she expected to work. She had hastily signed a release, and didn’t realize that she had essentially given consent to unlimited sexual activity, and couldn’t escape what happened next. Being treated like a piece of meat was pretty close to her description of how she was treated. In the end, she escaped, but will forever bear the emotional scars of all that transpired. Hopefully, she didn’t contract any diseases in the process.
One of the most important things a parent can do, is to prepare their offspring for the harsh realities of life, and that there are people out there more than willing to sexually exploit them.
When Joseph was in Egypt, separated from his family, he rejected the advances of the wife of Potiphar. Reading the account, one gets the impression that he didn’t stick around, but fled as soon as he sensed danger. While he suffered the consequences of a false accusation, in the end, it worked out well for him.
Joseph helped to preserve the line of Abraham. Because all the world was coming to Egypt for food, at that time, some Bible commentators suggest that the measures Joseph took to prepare for the seven lean years may have saved many lives beyond the borders of Egypt. Joseph did what he knew to be morally right, and that’s what matters.
People who are lured into porn, are definitely victims, but to me, the lesson is that young people need to be prepared for these challenges from early in life, and not even entertain the possibilities of following such a course. Such pressures can come unexpectedly, may involve age peers, and can be subtle. Parents are the first line of defense.
Very insightful analysis!
