
Public education! Ain’t it the berries?
The abuses of public education that we suffer and take for granted today, were not tolerated once upon a time–as late as the 1970s. They never, never, never would have been able to do these things to us… once upon a time.
Yes, there was a time when communities owned the schools that they paid for. There was no State Dept. of Education. Nor any federal Dept. of Education. Holy moly, there was freedom! And the people who had it vigorously defended it.
I was there; I saw it. I was a reporter; I reported it.
But I still don’t understand what happened to it.

Parents should be the ones determining what their children learn, with regard to these sensitive topics.
Even when my sons were in school, some of the teachers and principal had to have a “talking to” by my husband and me at times, and we eventually hired a tutor who came to our home to teach the younger son, in addition to our home teaching. What a shame when the world gets involved.
It’s unconscionable for the schools to think that they can override the parent’s wishes.
