By Request, ‘One Pair of Hands’

(We’re not really an hour later. Daylight Savings Time has made everybody late.)

Requested by Erlene: One Pair of Hands, sung by Carroll Roberson. He means the pair of hands that created the gorgeous background scenery in this video.

  1. What a beautiful song — thank you, Erlene and Lee.

In one of the Eucharistic Prayers at Mass, at the Consecration of the bread, the prayer says, in part, “…he [Jesus] took bread into his holy and venerable hands….” I’ve always loved that phrase. Those holy and venerable hands that did so much healing and nurturing were torn and scraped in the dirt as he fell during the carrying of the Cross, were battered and torn again as he hung on the Cross. But the wounds in those holy and venerable hands were raised in blessing again when he rose from the dead. The wounds didn’t disappear in his glorified body; they remained as a badge of honor, a sign of hope for all of us hurting and doubting Thomases.

Pardon me. I get a little carried away at the thought of those holy and venerable hands.
