I haven’t posted this one in a long time; I can’t imagine why.
By the Rivers of Babylon, by Boney M: really, it’s Psalm 137 set to music: the exiled people of Judah mourning for their country.
Let’s pray we give ourselves no occasions to mourn our country.
Every time I pray this psalm in the Divine Office – and it comes up at least once a month – I hear this music. I was hoping you’d play it again. (But what’s with the bizarre costumes and the man’s antics?)
That’s “Boney M” for you–and named after one of my favorite fictional detectives, Napoleon Bonaparte, the Outback’s finest.
That’s their act.
I love the way they pronounce “Babylon” – such an uplifting song about a melancholy subject.
I really like the way Boney M sings this. But there is something strange or off, about that guy in this video.
I don’t think he’s in all their videos. I’m not sure he’s originally from this planet.
