Somehow I always associated this hymn with the Salvation Army. Actually, it was written in 1878 by Elisha Hoffman–who also wrote Leaning on the Everlasting Arms… not to mention another 2,000 or so.
From 1878, by way of the Book of Revelation, hear Are You Washed in the Blood of the Lamb? I heard it for the first time last night in a Lord Peter Wimsey movie. You never know where praise of the Lord is going to turn up.
