Well, it’s here now–Rock of Ages, one of the best-loved hymns in Christendom
Erlene’s hymn request turned into one of those disappearing comments–but I think that problem’s been solved: more on that a little later, the hymn comes first.
Rock of Ages, sung by the Antrim Mennonite Choir. Written in 1775 by Augustus Toplady and still going strong 250 years later.
This blog is getting a little topheavy today, but I didn’t want to skip the hymn suggested by Erlene this morning: one of the most popular hymns ever–Rock of Ages, by Augustus Toplady (1775, and still going strong). Sung here by the Antrim Mennonite Choir.
If we pay attention to the lyrics, we find sound theology: Rock of Ages, written by Augustus Toplady in 1775, and performed here by the Antrim Mennonite Choir.
I always think of this as the 19th century hymn; but actually it was written in 1763 by Augustus Toplady: Rock of Ages, performed here by the Antrim Mennonite Choir.
