‘Rock of Ages’

The trouble I have, posting blog posts on this site! Would you believe it took me 45 minutes to do this?

Well, it’s here now–Rock of Ages, one of the best-loved hymns in Christendom

By Request, ‘Rock of Ages’

Erlene’s hymn request turned into one of those disappearing comments–but I think that problem’s been solved: more on that a little later, the hymn comes first.

Rock of Ages, sung by the Antrim Mennonite Choir. Written in 1775 by Augustus Toplady and still going strong 250 years later.

By Request, ‘Rock of Ages’

This blog is getting a little topheavy today, but I didn’t want to skip the hymn suggested by Erlene this morning: one of the most popular hymns ever–Rock of Ages, by Augustus Toplady (1775, and still going strong). Sung here by the Antrim Mennonite Choir.

‘Rock of Ages’

If we pay attention to the lyrics, we find sound theology: Rock of Ages, written by Augustus Toplady in 1775, and performed here by the Antrim Mennonite Choir.

‘Rock of Ages’

I always think of this as the 19th century hymn; but actually it was written in 1763 by Augustus Toplady: Rock of Ages, performed here by the Antrim Mennonite Choir.

If you’re new here, and you have a favorite hymn you’d like to share, just let us know and we’ll do the rest.

‘Rock of Ages’ (It’s the Gospel)

This is one of the world’s best known and best loved hymns–Rock of Ages, by Augustus Toplady, published in 1775, the year of Lexington and Concord. Here we have it sung by the Antrim Mennonite Choir.

We’ve heard this hymn so often that it’s easy to take it for granted. But see the lyrics: this is indeed the Gospel message. This is the good news we all need to hear.
