‘Brighten the Corner Where You Are’

There are people who just do it: you can’t help feeling better when they’re around. But I think as Christians we ought to try to do that on purpose. That’s the message of this hymn, isn’t it? (Yes, I know there are people who have a black cloud on a leash and take it everywhere they go. But that wouldn’t make for much of a hymn!)

Performed by Nathan and Lyle, at home: Brighten the Corner Where You Are.

‘Brighten the Corner Where You Are’

I’d never heard this simple, old-time hymn before, until I just stumbled over it this morning.

Few of us will ever get the chance to do something great that’ll be recorded in the history books; but each of us, every day, gets the chance to Brighten the Corner Where You Are. We can all do that!

So, to start the day, Nathan and Lyle, with autoharp and ukulele (why do I always have such a hard time spelling that?), light up the corner where they are.
