Chinese Protest–Without Words

Vigil commemorating victims of a fire in Urumqi, in Beijing

Can’t censor blank sheets of paper, can you, comrade?

In what the Reuters news agency called a “widespread outpouring” of public protest, Chinese objecting to perpetual lockdowns–a feature of China’s “zero COVID” policy–are displaying blank sheets of paper (https://www.reuters.com/world/china/blank-sheets-paper-become-symbol-defiance-china-protests-2022-11-27/).

“The white paper represent(s) everything we want to say but cannot say,” a protester told Western reporters. The protests have been especially “widespread” in major cities like Beijing and Nanjing. The blank sheets of paper, of course, are an attempt to defeat censorship and repression.

The images of the protests bring to mind those we saw during the collapse of the Soviet Union. It would be a good thing for the whole world if China’s communist tyranny drowned in its own COVID policies and was replaced by… liberty! That was Sun Yat-sen’s dream, over 100 years ago. We pray in Jesus’ name that at long last the people of China gain their liberty.

Creating the Earthly Paradise

Beijing's opening ceremony touts a different China from 2008 Olympics

Have you noticed that tyrannical regimes always seem to come up with silly walks? Hitler, Stalin, Peron–they all had their soldiers adopt peculiar styles of locomotion. The ones in the picture up there are Red China’s.

They’re having the Olympics out there, as we speak. Gee, I missed the opening ceremonies.

China is a bloodthirsty communist dictatorship which everyone currently pretends is a civilized country. Actually, the global ruling class is very fond of China, thinks they’ve got a lot of cool ways of doing things. Name an American Democrat who doesn’t admire and want to emulate Red China.

Have we learned nothing from that disastrous 20th century? Every time you turned around, there was more barbed wire and another pile of dead bodies.

Ye shall be as gods, Satan promised Adam and Eve, and launched the DIY Divinity project that’s still going full-throttle today. We break eggs to make the omelet. It’s gonna be great. Just give government enough power over people, enough money, and the right technology… and it’s gonna be paradise on earth. All our sins, all our hardships, all our follies will be engineered out of the system by The Smartest People In The World.

Barbed wire. Dead bodies.

Red China is this fallen world’s hangover from a whole century of dictatorships. It seduces stupid intellectuals. It promises great things!

Just as soon as they get rid of the Uighurs. And anyone else who’s in the way.

Is Missing Tennis Star Lost or Found?

Peng Shuai in an image purportedly posted by the missing Chinese tennis player

Laying it on a bit thick, do you think?

On Nov. 2 Chinese tennis star Peng Shuai posted on social media an assertion that she had been sexually assaulted by a member of the Chinese Communist government.

Then she went missing.

This weekend we are told she has reappeared… sort of. She is supposed to have made a video call to the International Olympic Committee to tell them she’s safe and well, and the Chicoms are saying she will make a public appearance “soon” (https://news.sky.com/story/peng-shuai-missing-chinese-tennis-player-will-make-public-appearance-soon-says-state-media-12473088). Meanwhile, they’ve posted pictures of her “quietly at home” with toys and a cat.

A great deal of skepticism surrounds this whole business. In China they don’t let you criticize the government. They make you disappear. In fact, I think that’s what American leftids, aka Democrats, like about it. Wait’ll parents who criticize school boards start disappearing. We’ll have our own Chateau D’If. But I digress.

When Peng Shuai makes her public appearance, will it be real or will it be Memorex?

Who can say?
