‘Jesu, Joy of Man’s Desiring’

There’s hardly anyone here this morning. Well, look at the weather. Maybe everybody just went back to bed. Wish I could.

But! Maybe one of the most beautiful pieces of music ever composed will get the ball rolling, and some entries submitted to our carol contest: Jesus, Joy of Men’s Desiring by Johann Sebastian Bach, sung by the Edinburgh Singers.

‘Jesu Joy of Man’s Desiring’

One of the most beautiful hymns ever written, Jesu Joy of Man’s Desiring, by J.S. Bach: performed here by the Edinburgh Singers, complete with oboe solo. I discovered this around Christmastime, but it’s the hymn that called to me today.

For those of you who are new to this blog, we take hymn requests and it’s my pleasure to post any hymn you’d like to hear. So don’t be shy, “Leave a Reply”–and we’ll do the rest.

For Easter, ‘Jesu, Joy of Man’s Desiring’

It works just as well for Easter as it does for Christmas, one of the most beautiful hymns ever written: Jesu, Joy of Man’s Desiring, by J.S. Bach. Performed by the Edinburgh Singers, with an oboe solo. Just lovely.

‘Jesu, Joy of Man’s Desiring’ (with Oboe)

I have to go to the doctor’s for a checkup this morning, but first a hymn, one of the most beautiful pieces of music ever written–Jesu, Joy of Man’s Desiring, by J.S. Bach, sung by the Edinburgh Singers, with an oboe solo, a very nice touch that I haven’t seen before.
