Kittens: They Do It with Mirrors

I never get tired of watching kittens getting goofy over mirrors. I had an anole once who’d go positively postal if he saw his reflection in a mirror; and I once saw a hamster get very grumpy about it. But kittens seem to be having fun.

It is said that clams are among the very few animals to recognize themselves in a mirror; but they don’t do anything about it.

Video Treat: Fun with Kittens – this is fun from 2016

Well, my WordPress prombles are just about all straightened out, although it took a lot of doing. I was fortunate in finding a very patient tech support guy. He had to be patient: my computer vocabulary is not much better than a cat’s.

Anyhow, there are some gorgeous kittens in this little video, including a couple who have just learned, “Hey, I can make my tail get puffy!” Cats are so funny when they first figure that out.

‘You Purr Funny…’

This 15-year-old cat has landed in the catbird seat… and maybe just in time, although we can’t know that.

Listen to her purr, Gertie the cat. The narrator’s right: it does sound like one of the critters in Jurassic Park. She was a stray, homeless cat who now has a home. She also has a nice human who makes her purr. All’s well that ends well.

Wind-Up Toys vs. Cat

(“I’m becalmed, Jim!” –Long John Silver)

Well, I’ve been pretty much becalmed all day. I wonder if a nice cat video will make me feel better.

Yes. it does!

I once bought a little wind-up tank for our cats, Robbie and Peep. In contrast to the completely sedate cat in this video, our little girls were visibly leery about that tank. Didn’t even try to flip it over. Heaven only knows how they would’ve reacted to a wind-up chick and bunny.

Startled Kitties

What do you get when you combine a roomful of cats (NOT a figured of speech!) and a robot cleaner?

First the cats are curious; but then the robot makes a dubious move, and the whole crowd of kitties freaks out. Amazing, how quickly they can disappear!

We did like to surprise our cats from time to time; but purposely scaring them–no, no way, that won’t do? Although sometimes they did it to each other…

Cavalcade of Cats

I  cant say that any of our cats ever displayed any of these eccentric behaviors. Oh, they did like to carry Patty’s slippers around the living room; but they never got into breaking things, nor did they ever molest the humans’ suppers. Buster did enjoy advising and, er, “helping” the TV repairman, but neither of them got electrocuted so that was all right.

I’m feeling a bit better by now and looking forward to tomorrow.

With we had a couple of cats, though.

Cat & Rocking Horse

How d’ya like that? When I was a little boy, we had a cat and a rocking horse–and never thought to get the two of them together! I’m sure Fluffy would’ve had a grand time on that wonderful coal-black steed. It made me feel like Sir Lancelot when I rode it.

[Note: More doctoring tomorrow, so I won’t be here in the morning. Something about a transfusion, infusion, something-fusion. And next week is the colon operation!]

Cats & Paper Planes

Paper airplanes are for more than just sending secret messages to the Master Cylinder. They’re also a great way to exercise your cat. And you can’t rely on your cat to deliver secret messages. They just don’t take it seriously.

Cats ‘n’ Bags

Our cat Henry got himself tangled up in a plastic bag in the middle of the night, and it was the devil’s own job catching him–he panicked, of course–and setting him free. It can’t be helped: most cats love poking themselves into bags. It’s wise not to leave plastic bags where cats can’t get them.

Don’t Cry, Baby–Kitty’s Here

I couldn’t leave you without a critter video, could I?

And this one blows me away. Crying baby comforted by cat. I’ve never seen the like of it.

Is this a glimpse of what it will be like in Christ’s Kingdom?
