Only four days left in the Christmas Carol Contest, folks. Here we are, waiting for your Christmas hymn requests. So far no carol has managed to get 20 views on the day it was requested. Two are tied with 19.

Here’s one to get us started today–Ding Dong Merrily on High, played with gusto by the Idaho Falls Symphony Orchestra. And there’s a harpsichord in it, too!

I’m crazy for the harpsichord, and I was looking for a harpsichord rendition of Ding-Dong Merrily on High. There’s supposed to be a harpsichord in here, somewhere.
But never mind! Go ahead–just try to sit still while this is playing! It’s the Idaho Falls Symphony Orchestra, with several high school choirs, and it’s just wonderful.
Turn up the volume for this–and watch out that your furniture doesn’t start dancing.
This is the Idaho Falls Symphony Orchestra, with the combined Idaho Falls high school choirs, belting out Ding-Dong Gloria on High–complete with strings, glorious drums (oh, the drums!) and, joy of joys, a harpsichord. Really, I am quite overcome–tears in my eyes. But wit you well (as old Tom Malory would say) they are but tears of joy: for Jesus Christ is come in the flesh.

I keep looking for a rendition of this hymn with a harpsichord solo, but haven’t found one yet.

I’m still a bit off-color after freezing my marrow during my bike ride yesterday, but this is music that can get you going.
