Our Prayers for Harlem Have Been Answered

Back in September I posted a prayer quest for my neighbor, Harlem, who is battling pancreatic cancer and some other medical issues. I am happy to report that the Lord has answered these prayers!

“I’m now a cancer survivor,” Harlem told me today. He looks and sounds so much more like his old self–a huge improvement on the way he was this winter, when they had to take him away in an ambulance.

Folks, he knows about your prayers and is very thankful for them.

Father in Heaven, thank you for the love and mercy that you have shown this man and his wife, Cindy. To God be the glory: amen.

A Prayer of Thanks!

O Lord Our God, I am thankful that I’m able to pray this prayer of thanks this morning, with a glad heart and a rejoicing spirit.

Father, to you, and you alone, we owe it that the torch of liberty has not gone out. You heard our prayers, and for your great mercy’s sake, were merciful to us.

Now do for us, O God, what is absolutely necessary. Harden our hearts no more, but move us to seek you out, to turn to you in true repentance. Do to us as you did to the Prodigal Son: who by your grace came to his senses, turned away from his folly and his sin, went back to his father who loved him, repented, and was saved: so do to us, O God! So do to us.

Prayer Request: Our Prodigal Country

[The prodigal son left his father] and there wasted his substance with riotous living… and he began to be in want… And when he came to himself, he said… I will arise and go to my father, and will say unto him, Father, I have sinned…  Luke 15: 13-14, 17-18

Please join me in prayer for our country. In all my lifetime, there has never been a time when we needed saving prayer as we need it now.

Our Father in Heaven, we, like the Prodigal Son in Jesus’ parable, have turned away from you, have followed our own desires, and have wasted our substance. What kind of folly have we neglected to perform? What sin have we left unsinned?

Lord, move us to come to our senses, like the Prodigal Son did. He left his folly, went back to his father, and was saved. Move us to come back to you, and be saved: for only you can save us.

We pray in Jesus’ name. Amen.

Urgent Prayer Request: Pat

We have prayed before for Pat and her husband, Waymon, who was hospitalized following a seizure; but we need to pray again. There has been no improvement, and the situation is not good, not good at all. Please join in prayer.

Father in Heaven, all healing comes from you, both of the body and of the spirit. Please, Lord, heal Pat and Waymon in both the body and the spirit, because they are greatly troubled. Hear us, O God, and help them speedily. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Prayer Request: Harlem

Please join me in prayer for my neighbor, Harlem, one of the nicest men you’d ever want to meet. He’s battling pancreatic cancer, and has other medical issues to contend with. But the cancer is the big one.

Today, for the first time in months, we saw him walk with a cane instead of a walker, and he was happy about that. He asked me to ask for prayers: his cancer is almost eradicated, but it doesn’t want to go quietly.

O Lord Our God, from whom comes all healing, in Jesus’ name, please deliver our brother Harlem from his cancer. Take away the last of it remaining, and leave him altogether clean of it; and let his recovery bear witness to your power, your goodness, and your love. Amen.

A Reminder: We Take Hymn and Prayer Requests

Some new readers have joined this blog lately, and I’d like to take the opportunity to let them know, and remind everybody else, that we do hymn and prayer requests.

If there’s a hymn you’d like to share with your fellow readers by having it posted here, just say the word–and it shall be done. Post your request in the form of a comment, and I’ll do the rest.

Only a few of you have made hymn requests, so far. But it’s open to one and all, so don’t be shy.

We also post prayer requests. If you have one, let me know about it via a comment. It can’t hurt to have Christians from all over the world praying for you when you need a prayer.

Prayer Request: Harlem and Cindy

Please join me in prayer for my neighbors, Harlem and Cindy, two of the nicest Christian people you’d ever want to meet. Harlem is undergoing treatment for cancer, made more difficult by some other medical issues unrelated to the cancer. It’s been quite successful so far, but the last little bit of his cancer isn’t going quietly and he’s by no means out of the woods. And he can’t work, so Cindy has to work two jobs.

Father in Heaven, in Jesus’ name, please bless your servants, Harlem and Cindy, and deliver them out of trouble and danger: they are yours, Lord, and they need their Father. Please, Lord, finish healing Harlem’s cancer, and let his recovery bear witness to your power, your goodness, and your love. Amen.

Prayer Request: Linda and Michael

This prayer request hits close to home, so everybody please join in.

Dear Father in Heaven, please, in Jesus’s name, move quickly to deliver our friend Linda, and her husband Michael, from trouble. Michael has a serious illness, and they stand in great need of your grace and healing. In Jesus’ name, amen.

Prayer Request: Our Country

If our country ever needed prayers, it needs them now. Our law-makers have become law-breakers, and we stand poised to hand over the highest office in the land to a wicked woman whose 40-year history of lawlessness streams out behind her like the tail of a comet.

O Lord Our God, we have sinned against you: we have been cold and indifferent toward you, and ungrateful, and rebellious. For that reason you have raised up wicked and ungodly rulers to chastise us; they have spoiled our country, and led us still more deeply into sin.

Father, save us! Not for our sakes, but for your own great mercy’s sake, as a God who delights in mercy.

Save us, O Lord: not for our sakes, but for your own great glory’s sake: let the world see your power and your might, and tremble.

Save us, O God! Not for our sakes, but for Jesus Christ’s sake, who purchased our redemption with His blood: the only begotten Son of God.

We cannot save ourselves. The enemy is too powerful, too rich, too deeply dug into all the corridors of worldly power. But you brought down Assyria at the height of its glory, and cut off Babylon suddenly: we know you intervene in history.

Save us, Our Father: we pray in Jesus’ name. Amen.

Prayer Request: Betty

Please, everybody, join in prayer for my friend, Betty, whose daughter Tammy had surgery today (so far, so good) but has some other medical problems that have complicated the picture.

Father in Heaven, please bless your servant, Betty, and deliver her daughter, Tammy, from danger. We thank you for bringing her through her surgery, and we know that all healing comes from you. We pray in Jesus’ name, amen.
