This blog is getting a little topheavy today, but I didn’t want to skip the hymn suggested by Erlene this morning: one of the most popular hymns ever–Rock of Ages, by Augustus Toplady (1775, and still going strong). Sung here by the Antrim Mennonite Choir.

We have a hymn request from Erlene, something to wash out the acrid aftertaste of nooze–Rock of Ages, sung with gusto by the students at Fountainview Academy.
You’d be hard-put to find a church where this is never sung.

This hymn request came in from Joshua late yesterday, so I saved it for this morning–Guy Penrod singing a medley of Rock of Ages and I Stand Amazed. I don’t like to use up all the hymn requests at once, in case I don’t get any the next day.

Rock of Ages, by Rev. A.M. Toplady, was first published in 1775 and has remained popular ever since–but you’ve never heard it sung like this before. Requested by Joshua: Rock of Ages, sung a capella by GLAD.
I always think of this as the 19th century hymn; but actually it was written in 1763 by Augustus Toplady: Rock of Ages, performed here by the Antrim Mennonite Choir.
