If this column reminds you of a recent blog post, you get an A for paying attention. But culture-killing is a major issue and needs to be addressed as firmly as we can.
Really, the garbage that gets thrust at us as “entertainment” ought to make us ashamed of ourselves–for not sweeping it out the door.
All the points you make are valid, and said as it is, this is life today. That is why I never view any modern TV movies. Needless to say, I would not go to a movie theatre. I don’t keep quiet about the reason I take this stand, either. I actually consider it a responsibility to speak up against smut.
The only thing I would go to a movie theater to see is a G rated movie. The rest is just violent or as Erlene said, smut. As far as television, most is worthless to watch. There is so much of this “reality” television and it’s all just sinful. I saw a commercial for another of these ridiculous, disgusting, satanic reality shows called “Temptation Island”. Seriously!? Disgusting!! And yes, the public education system does condone children having to “fit in”. I see it and hear it daily. The conversations that go on in high school hallways are absolute proof that these kids will do anything to fit in. Hollywood is in it for the evil money and parents today need to do more of that…. parent. Learn that it’s okay to say no and stop being their child’s friend. If everyone stops supporting the evil industry, they can’t make money and will stop producing the trash. Video games – I can’t even go there! They might be the worst, or at least equal. If they don’t promote viloence and death, I don’t know what does. The world won’t change until the demand changes. If people continue to support snd condone the evil, that is what will be produced. God needs to intervene. I pray that He can reach the hearts of those that are lost before it is too late.
My mother wouldn’t let me watch the shows the other kids were watching, or do what they were doing: so I was an oddball, and they picked on me. But by the time I was in high school, I was proud to be an oddball and nobody could get me to go along with the crowd.
One can take that too far, of course; sometimes I have. But by the time everybody was smoking pot and trying cocaine, I wasn’t. And they couldn’t talk me into it.
Point is: you can make your kids stronger by not allowing them to conform.
And that is how I raised my children and low and behold, they are thankful that I did! They grew up to be well educated, contributing members of society. They didn’t follow the “in crowd” and were not allowed to whatever they pleased. It all had to be approved by me. Not to mention they were involved in things like dance classes to keep them occupied. I wasn’t afraid to parent. I’m still not! Even though they are adults, they still need direction sometimes. God gave them to me and it’s my job to make sure they are following His word. Period. Somehow that has been forgotten or people have just become too lazy. Technology has become a babysitter. Very unfortunate and sad. What were are seeing today is the result of that..
We fought over that stuff all the time–I’m a chip off the old block.
Nancy Pelosi has been invited to the Grammys Award Show. She will be the guest of honor at a pre-show dinner with the stars and hangers-on who will be paying $100,000 a table. Those Satanist sure stick together.
I guess some people never grow up. 100K for a table? whee! There is a book titled Death of the Grownup, by a writer named Diana West. She sums it up very well.
It seems there really are people who have way more money than they know what to do with.
While such entertainment seems to be quite profitable to its vendors, it’s also true that Satan works hard to govern the affairs of this world to his liking. He certainly is more than happy to see this sort of thing promoted.
I too, was the perpetual outsider; still am. I don’t want the badness of this fallen world to become my source of entertainment. A few years ago, I saw a documentary about the effect that the pornography industry had on the lives of the people that worked in it. To put it bluntly, it was sickening and tragic. Young women lured into “modeling contracts”, which they signed without reading and then found themselves legally obligated to do things they had never imagined. It is not all that far from kidnapping, in my opinion. Many escape, but the rest of their life is marked by disease, infertility and shame.
But even mainstream entertainment is filled with disgusting things these days. I don’t watch TV anymore. Most of what I’ve seen in recent years disgusts me. Even the more innocuous offerings are often riddled with politically correct object lessons and declarations rejecting moral standards. I wouldn’t associate with such people in person; why would I invite such things into my home by way of entertainment?
