Happy Birthday, Whoever You Are

The Quokka. Possibly the happiest animal on earth : Eyebleach

G’day, everybody! Byron the Quokka here; and as you can see, all of us are just waiting for the chance to celebrate another birthday.

This is not just a blog; it’s a fellowship. We’d like to announce everybody’s birthdays. Would you believe it–nobody had a birthday in July.

Anyway, if you’d like birthday greetings here, just leave the date in a comment somewhere, anywhere, and I’ll copy it into my book.

Oh! And don’t forget the comment contest! We’re shooting for Comment No. 64,000, as in “The $64,000 Question.” We still have over a thousand comments to go–but come on, let’s have some fun with this, let’s enjoy some scintillating conversations here! Here, I’ll start the balling rolling with a couple of deep questions–

Why isn’t pick-up sticks an Olympic sport?

Why aren’t there any lost cities in Australia? [Careful! That’s a trick question!]

Whatever happened to Hires Root Beer?

C’mon, humans! Let’s get this blog rolling again!

  1. These are some fun questions. I remember some of these things, but really do not have any answers. Guess that is what happens when you get old. In my family, there are six July birthdays, but not me.

  2. I’ve been practicing my old pickup sticks skills ever since it became a varsity sport at Quokka U. Maybe someday Byron and I will be medalists at the Olympics. 🙂

Unfortunately, I don’t have any genuine pickup sticks at home, but I practice by balancing spaghetti or linguine strands (uncooked, of course) on a small postal scale that I use for measuring out portions to cook for myself. Adding and subtracting the individual strands on the tiny platform without any of them falling off is indeed a challenge!

  3. When is your birthday Byron? If lost cities are found they are no longer lost.

    1. I don’t know about cryptogeography (although it shows great promise as a degree program at Quokka University), but I’ve got 5 blog views today from Cote d’Ivoire. I do wonder how that happened!

Cote d’Ivoire, if you can read this, talk to me…

    2. Cote d’Ivoire??? I heard that country’s name before, but I forgot where it was, so I searched it. Wow!!! Something special has happened!! Congratulations!
