I hope you’ll pardon me for knocking off early from the nooze today. Sometimes enough is enough.
And so a hymn, instead: All Hail the Power of Jesus’ Name, sung by the Maranatha! Singers. The arrangement is a little hypermodern for me, but at least I found the melody I wanted.
This hymn forms part of one of my most vivid boyhood memories–an outdoor chapel service at Y Camp, overlooking a glorious spread of farmland and wooded hills, with the camp counselors singing the hymn. It’s been one of my favorites ever since.
I ;loved Y Camp – went every year I was eligible. I remember going door to door to sell toffee covered peanuts to earn money for it.
I only went once, but it was a great 2 weeks.
