Martin Selbrede (my mentor) posted this cartoon on Facebook. It makes the point that too many people don’t get: “Artificial intelligence is not ‘intelligence’ at all!” It’s just a simulation.
Sort of like thinking hand puppets are alive because they “talk.”
AI is artificial Intelligence but genuine Senselessness. Computers possess no sense, whatsoever. A three year-old can run circles around a supercomputer, when sense is required. Aircraft control computers scare me, because they will rely on fallible sensors and can override the pilot’s inputs. Ever hear of the 737 Max and the MCAS system? Well, there are 346 people who are gone because of it. That wasn’t AI, so to speak, but it illustrates just how wrong a computer can be.
